Morphological conformation: “ocular” vs. computerized biometry. Genetic bases of coat colors. Current and legal systems of identification, unresolved basic issues. Problems and variations in age determination. Limb conformation and its impact on production and performance, empiricism vs. methodology. Functional biotypes and economically and sports-important horse breeds. The equine industry and the horse in Latin America. Native breeds. Production, breeding, and economic, social, and cultural impact. Donkeys and Mules.
