Rethinking the way we relate to the horse | EP. 03. Luis Losinno

Thank you Lucas for these “No Hat” meetings.

From e-quine ACADEMY we want to thank the possibility of sharing this and other contents in Podcast format that build community, amplify valuable voices and allow us to continue learning together. We are happy to open the doors to proposals like this one, which are born from the commitment, passion and experience of those who live the horse world from the inside. Lucas Echeverry will be the one who, in this and every new meeting, will invite us to enjoy this space for conversation and shared learning, with the warmth of someone who opens the doors of his house and waits for us with a delicious coffee.

Episode 3: “Rethinking the way we relate to the horse”.

Dr. Luis Losinno is a veterinarian and for many years has been a world reference in the field of equine reproduction. Currently, he is one of the leaders of the equine science or equine production movement, which seeks to look at horses in a more comprehensive way, recognizing that everything is connected, from genetics, reproduction, nutrition, welfare, facilities, among others, to training and results in the discipline for which the horses were bred.

We talked with Luis about his childhood on a family horse farm in Argentina, about the domestication of equines and the impact this had on human development, and about the general history of the human-equine bond. Luis told us anecdotes of his experiences worldwide, living the horse from different cultures, and we talked about horse welfare and how we can do things better as breeders. We had an interesting discussion about how traditional professional education is dying to make way for other educational models, and he set the scene for his new project, E-quine Academy, with which he seeks to provide solutions to the educational shortcomings he finds today.
