Description
This course offers a comprehensive view of podiatric care and the use of therapeutic shoeing in horses, addressing both common pathologies and specific prevention and rehabilitation techniques.
Throughout the classes, the relationship between equine biomechanics, the individual needs of each equestrian discipline and the characteristics of training surfaces are explored. In addition, clinical cases are discussed that highlight the importance of hardware adjustments to promote optimal equine welfare and performance.
Learning objectives
Through this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the most common podiatric pathologies in equines, as well as the angular and rotational deviations that affect their welfare and functionality.
- Recognize the importance of adjusting the fittings to the particularities of each equestrian discipline, the working surfaces and the individual needs of each horse.
- Understand the principles of therapeutic shoeing, including lever reduction and surface distribution, as key tools in injury rehabilitation.
- Analyze clinical cases that integrate the correlation between clinical findings, diagnostic imaging and therapeutic tooling techniques for the management of specific lesions.
