Description

This course addresses the fundamental principles of equine welfare and performance, exploring the relationship between nutritional management, behavior and living conditions of horses.

Through theoretical analysis and practical applications, participants will develop skills to improve the health and welfare of horses in different contexts, from production systems to equestrian sports, promoting evidence-based practices to optimize their quality of life and performance.

Learning objectives

Through this course, you will be able to:

  • Recognize the key principles of equine welfare and their impact on the physical and emotional health of horses.
  • To identify the factors associated with nutritional management and their relationship with gastrointestinal disorders, stress and sports performance in horses.
  • To know the appropriate management practices to minimize stress and promote welfare in stabled horses or in productive systems.
  • Understand the interaction between facility design, feeding and environmental conditions in promoting equine welfare.
