Description

This course addresses equine nutrition and management during key stages of the reproductive and growth cycle.

It covers the feeding and needs of stallions, brood mares and foals, with a focus on welfare, proper development and prevention of problems associated with nutritional imbalances.

Participants will obtain theoretical and practical tools to optimize equine health and performance in production systems through feed management.

Learning objectives

Through this course, you will be able to:

  • Recognize the specific nutritional needs of stallions, brood mares and foals during growth.
  • Identify essential nutrients and their proportions to prevent nutritional imbalances and metabolic disorders in equines.
  • Know nutritional management strategies during critical stages, such as gestation, lactation and post-weaning, to promote healthy foal development.
  • Describe effective practices to improve reproductive performance and quality of life of equines in intensive and extensive systems.
